about scale cubes
Scale cubes have been used as a scale reference in photographic documentation from around the 1970's. NASA is generally considered as the creator of the original concept who used them for both photographing lunar rocks returned from the Apollo moon missions and later for meteorites recovered in Antarctic searches. Both 1 centimeter and 1 inch cubes have been used in the past but only the 1cm cubes are now commonly used. For more information about scale cubes and their uses, click here.
